Nagios

Introduction

This is the updated online version of the Nagios documentation package distributed with Nagios Core Version 3. It is NOT the official Nagios documentation. The official online documentation is available here.

Nagios is a extremly powerful, versatile and open software system. One of its main benefits is the extensibility of all major functions. We can see the proven success of Nagios extensibility in the magnitude of freely available addons and plugins. In order to ensure the best possible integration of extensions and the scalabilty of Nagios into the enterprise, documentation is a key factor. With open source software being developed under especially tight time and money constraints, documentation is often lacking. Without proof-reading, layout refinement and a good chapter design it is difficult to read. Easily accessible documentation is a time-saver and productivity boost.

I created this Nagios online documentation update with these changes:

Making it publicly accessible, I wish it becomes useful for the large Nagios community as a whole. Feel free to contact me at support[at]frank4dd.com, I welcome comments.
Best wishes, Frank
